Micro sim card does not fit into sim carrier in Lumia 635, what are my options?

Microsim card does not fit into sim carrier in Lumia 635

Hi,

I bought a used (but in very good condition) Nokia lumia 635 via amazon. However I can (physically!) not insert the micro-sim card from my provider into the carrier.
There seem to be two little pins or sth. that prevent the card from going all the way in.

Why is that so and what can I do?

It sounds like there may be damage. This can happen when somebody tries to forcefully remove a nano sim converter. It's not a cheap repair if that's the case. Hope it isn't.
