Microphone volume too low

Just opened and set up my Blu HD Win 8.1. Replacement for the Lumia 520, which was fine as a daily driver. Very nice phone for the cost but there is an issue with the microphone. Callers tell me that they cannot hear me well. Volume is fine with a headphone but I cannot use them all the time. I've tried all the usual fixes. Volume buttons. Settings, etc. So far, nothing helps. I was able to reset my wife's Samsung Galaxy Note III with a fix for the same issue. It involved turning the bluetooth on and off, removing and replacing the battery and restarting the phone. Tried this and failed. I also reset the phone. Nothing yet.

Having the same issue. People cannot hear me when I am on call unless I use external microphone.

Updated. Actually they can hear me, but as if am talking from very far away.
