Well phones these days have more processing power then computers in the early 90s and also with the advent of tablets along with the proliferation of social networking + faster cellular internet, more people are doing more when out and about. That is the reality unless you live in the rural area where there is nothing for miles just hills and vegetation .

Well phones these days have more processing power then computers in the early 90s and also with the advent of tablets along with the proliferation of social networking + faster cellular internet, more people are doing more when out and about. That is the reality unless you live in the rural area where there is nothing for miles just hills and vegetation .

Not all of us are into social networking nor care to share our daily lives to the world,nor choose to be part of something akin to a new age socialism wither we live in the boondocks or in a metropolitan area.

And not everyone has the fast internet and unlimited data. I live in India. And these things really get me scared. I mean I really can't imagine streaming anything but casual YouTube. Cause, 3G is so expensive here, I'm even afraid to hard reset cause then I will have to download all apps means waste a lot of data. Can't even dream of streaming songs, let alone movies.

It's funny how they say he's dumping the "devices and services" mantra. I don't see how "Productivity and platforms" differs much. He's not dumping devices and the services they can use. He's just taking it to the next level. In other words, he just one upped Apple and setting his sights squarely on Google, which is WHERE they should have been from the get go. He's also one upped Google too. Productivity and platforms are useless without people. In a nutshell he's telling us the consumer and his employees (who are also consumers) that Microsoft cares about us and that it will do its level best to make our lives more productive and rewarding. That is where he one ups Google. Google's core revenue stream has been and, for the foreseeable future, based on advertisements. Microsoft's core revenue stream has always been making things (an OS or an office productivity suite are things) for us to use. And in the past decade Microsoft has been more responsive to consumer input than Apple and Google has.

When stockholders get sold on ideals then there's usually a group meeting held by the head of operations to lay out a plan.
Then the head either gets fired or moves to another company.

It's interesting because Windows Phone started as a product for consumers. Now the focus is in productivity and enterprise features, they're trying to find a niche there.

Well what other product are they going to push to enterprises and corporations? . I don't see them making an other o/s just to cater that segment.
