Microsoft Could've Killed Sony With A Diskless Xbox One.

Some of us don't have super fast internet access. So only downloading games would take forever. Ssds are still too expensive and drive up the price of the console. If something happened to the ssd you'd have to download everything again. I'd rather a disc for installs.

Diskless is just silly at the moment. To do it, then need a huge HDD, external disk support, and most importantly, far better prices for digital content. Get Steam style prices, and people would jump on board uicker.

Even then I think it would still be the minority's choice. Console people in masses still arn't quite "ready" for this. PC crowd had Steam at least a whole console generation's worth before it really started picking up speed and even then it's just the last few years when it has really picked up speed with this kinda stuff.

And even then, people got to "grow into" Steam while having a disc drive in their PC, so they didn't trade anything away. This is what has to happen with consoles too and even then it's questionable if it's worth leaving the disc drive out, it's not expensive at all, so the only thing you save is in the size of console, pretty much and it's not really the selling factor in home gaming consoles.

You trade a lot away without getting much in return. Steam-like stuff can be done even with the disc drive there, but it has to be there BEFORE you take the disc drive away at the very least :P
