Interesting move, though macOS is doing just that for most of the apps since forever (which was and is very annoying) and all mobile operating systems are working like that - all apps have services and mostly work in the background even if you don't want or need them...

I like windows (and Linux?) approach of control - something works it works and if not it's closed. there is of course bazzilion services and hidden tasks, but usually it's from awful software or at least it can be disabled (contrary do mobile os)

So in order to actually terminating Edge (which I need to do often enough), deselecting the "keep running apps and extensions" flag won't be enough, but I'll have to turn another setting?.
