Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE running WP 8.1 - loud, brief screech when answering calls. Ouch!

When answering some calls on my Microsoft Lumia 640 LTE running WP 8.1, I get a very loud but brief screech, after which the call proceeds fine. But with the screech I don't dare to put the phone to my ear when answering calls. The screech is very loud - my husband can hear it plainly in the next room.

Does this only happen with calls? not with playing music/recordings or games?
