Microsoft will force Windows 11 installs to use a Microsoft Account — confirms removal of popular setup bypass

I know the vast majority of people don't do this, but you can sign into an iPad or Mac without an account (not sure about iPhone). You can also use Android phones and tablets without an account signed in. Yes, it's incredibly limiting because you can't download apps or use a multitude of other features, but it can be done. And that's why people do sign in because they clearly understand the benefits of doing so. That's what Microsoft is missing.

Microsoft wants people do create an account but the end user doesn't understands why they need a Microsoft Account. The app store can be ignored almost entirely. Microsoft's own apps can be signed in individually. Windows backup? Even with that, setting up a new PC is still a pain in the ass. So Microsoft wants people to create an account before giving them a reason to do so. It's the worst way to go about that.

Fortunately, there's already a workaround as pointed out by the article.
