Microsoft's 20 year Journey - the future actually looks bright!!!

After reading all the doom and gloom on forums, as well as the news surrounding mobile and press releases its easy to get sucked up into believing all is not well at Microsoft. However the truth is far from that, I read an article detailing the microsoft journey, well worth a read to understand where we were, are and going:

Microsoft just don't need so many human resources for future development of Windows Mobile and phone devices. There have been several rounds of layoffs in mobile division since last year. Every layoff is sad to Windows fans.

The mobile battle is extremely difficult for Microsoft. If Apple/Google was in that situation, it would be equally difficult.

It seems that Microsoft have nothing to do to save Windows Mobile. They can just wait for Windows 10 & UWP to get mature before any attempt of coming back to the mobile space. Instead of burning money every day, layoff is the only choice which makes sense.

Microsoft is pretty much done in the consumer market. Years behind in AI and VR. An underdog in the cloud.

The future looks... dark.

All the feel good articles don't change the reality of falling sales, marketshare, developer and OEM interest. And that directly impacts the end user in their choice of handset and the apps they can run on it. So if you want to bury your head in the sand and ignore the truth but want to believe that Microsoft somehow still has a viable smartphone platform, go ahead and welcome to WP 7.5, 8, 8.1 and finally 10 and how they were all supposed to save the day....
