It is well known that the main reason for using Windows and Office in the Enterprise space is that you don't have to train your employees to use it, because everyone grew up with a Windows PC, and MS Office. This has been true for almost 30 years, but its quickly becoming a fallacy.

More and more people have grown up with operating systems outside of Windows, such and IOS, MacOS, ChromeOS, and Android. We've already seen young millennials join the workforce, and be resistant to traditional office practices such as email, PowerPoint, or excel, and insist on using their IPhone, and Google Docs to do all their work.

These kinds of people are going to become more and more numerous now that Microsoft (Nadella) as decided to make a pivot Enterprise/Cloud. They've seemingly dropped any interest in consumer focused products, which means people wont grow up with them and companies wont want to have Microsoft products because the cost to train people how to use Windows simply wont be worth it.

Remember Gate's original vision "a PC on every desk, and in Every home" well Microsoft is totally ditching the home part, and the mobile part and the car part, and every part of a persons life outside of work.

Nadella to me seems like someone chosen by the board and shareholders to make a quick profit for shareholders at the expense of the companies longevity. He kills everything if its not immediately profitable within the first couple of quarters. So no person or corporation for that matter really has faith in investing in their eco system.

I work in the Defense/Government sectors, and while MS did just complete to Windows 10 upgrade for DoD I have seen more and more Google software sneak its way into our systems. They're going to lose the Enterprise if they don't pay attention to consumers, because Enterprises are made up of consumers, they're not entities unto themselves.

My question is does anyone at Microsoft see any of this? Do they notice that they are throwing themselves into a sinkhole from whence there is no return?
