Molly Wood gives 8.1 a shot

Exactly. She said in the article people would like WP over Android bland UI? Coming from an Apple user? Bland? Android will and always has had THE MOST customization for any of the OS out. That some bias BS. Cortana gave her 10 coffee locations with 4 star rating but she gave it Siri that have her 6? LOL. She makes anything outside iPhone sound too confusing for her.

Although she mentioned almost at the end of the article, an image and this case an "expert " video review says a lot. The first thing she should have pointed out is that Cortana is still in beta. There are many that will take in what they see in the video and no even bother to read the article. I just ask for impartiality.
In the video no. But she did mention this in the article itself. It's not entirely biased reading the article but the video was crap.

I don't disagree at all. It was very hidden. But she does acknowledges it. Very discreetly. I don't care for the video at all. The article was half assed tolerable. But fans are like that. Most trend to favor their preference. I just hate when they misrepresent the truth and skew the facts. As with Molly

So this wasn't the worst thing Molly Wood ever wrote but she does manage to take six paragraphs to complain about apps (she spent 7 paragraphs on Cortana) and then concluded that the app situation wasn't "as bad" as she expected. And here's a tip Molly: don't like the WP Spotify app? Try the superior Mix Radio app. Just because something is on your beloved iOS doesn't mean its the best.

I'm NOT clicking. NO! I will not do it. I click these things over and over again, and I've sworn off Molly Wood at least twice (perhaps most recently after her laughably bad review of the 1020). Nope, not doing it. Not even just to read the comments. Nor will I find her on Twitter and correct her mistakes. Not happening. You guys have fun though.

Geez, I've always really liked Molly Wood. She clearly has a love for her Apple products, but I wouldn't necessarily call her biased in this piece. She used to rock a Zune back in the day.

And the reason she gave the point to Siri, it told her how it sorted the results. That's the most pathetic thing I've ever heard.

In this case having a Zune "back in the day" means nothing, she has a Windows Phone, Android device and an iPhone and she's still biased!!!

Often people who use all platforms are the least biased. Not sure why she uses anything but a 5s. If she is biased that's fine. If she loves her iPhone that's fine, and I have no problem with that. She can have her own personal preferences. However, I don't like when reviewers bring their personal preferences and biases into reviews.

Not everybody is going to love Windows Phone... it's her personal opinion. Get over it.

It's fine if people don't love one product or another, but my problem with Molly Wood is that she gets facts wrong and allows her lack of knowledge and (unacknowledged) Apple bias color her "reviews". It's like seeing an editorial slipped into the news section.

Exactly, the only problem is that some of us that have posted in this thread haven't put it quite like that and that includes me.

Personally I think Michael Fisher of pocketnow.com is the gold standard of tech reviewers and is the sort of reviewer that all others should strive to be like. He obviously has his favourite platform but he's unbiased in his reviews. Have a look for his review of the WP8.1 developer preview on YouTube and you'll see what I mean.

Simple - she prefers iOS, see all of the rest of her windows phone reviews. Prob does most things through apps, but doesn't find it necessary to customize. Therefore, her review is based on her preferences.

Yes and that's fine but as a tech reviewer she shouldn't allow her personal preference to get in the way, especially when comparing three platforms.

My favorite reviewer is Lisa from MobileTechReview. Not only is she super unbiased and goes VERY Far in depth (more so than most reviewers), she is also interactive and reachable. She will reply to your comments and emails. Love her.
