Mouse Pointers Making Me Crazy!

I'm going nuts with the mouse pointer turning to a WHITE I-bar when moving over a text field, area, page, whatever. I've got it set to the third mode on the mouse accessibility settings, where it *says* that it will be opposite the background color, but fuggedaboudit. The dad-blamed thing is still white. Have you tried using OneNote like this??? IMPOSSIBLE!

Does anyone have any suggestions?
