Looking at a video of the cognac leather, the bumper does not protect the glass, it sits quite proudly about the side of the case.

Can you confirm if it has bumpers around the screen that would stop the screen from hitting the ground if it fell face first?

It does NOT based on customer pics and videos. Like the factory back, it is completely behind the screen.
