1/30 on the volume setting is still far too loud. Are there any options for reducing this?

Too loud for me to stand. 1/30 is still too high for me to listen comfortably. The Lumia 520 has no built in equalizer and apparently cannot support one based on the searches I have made. The "Audio" app people have recommended has terrible reviews and says it doesnt work for the 520.

Wow that honestly sucks... I thought MS already released the eq settings for the 520, but apparently they haven't yet.. Even installing the official audio app won't help this..
Let's hope 8.1 will bring some music settings for the 520 guys

I hope so...and I hope it is very soon as I am running out of the 15 days to return this phone. It was super cheap but this among some other shortcomings are making it frustrating...the rest I am willing to deal with but this is a deal breaker. I'd rather have the money to put toward another platform/device if this issue can't be fixed fast.

Just restart and the volume will be fine it's a bug since GDR3, Perhaps stop using "Stop the music" app.

Have tried restarting and resetting a few times with no effect. Another person posting this problem also said resets never helped when someone suggested the same bug, and even trying a replacement device didn't help as it was loud too. Not sure what you mean by "Stop the Music" app? I use the included music player.

Maybe you can try with a different music app? Doubt it will work, but give it a shot.. TRy "Extreme Music"

Sometimes volume will get stuck at 30 and not come down even though it says 1/30 what you can do is, use an app called kill my music or stop that music as suggested and clear the music off ....then play it again then it will play at the volume you have set which will be 1/30 .....if you still have a problem when the original 1/30 is playing then I suggest a tape on the speaker as 520 has removable shells....

It's definitely not stuck on 30 as I can turn it up to the real 30 which is insanely loud. Taping over the speaker won't have any effect on the headphones and shouldn't be required on a modern smartphone anyway. There has to be a way to adjust the volume range.

well for headphones you can buy ones which have volume controllers built into them .......for the loudspaeker there is no other option but to tape ...

I experienced this problem and, unfortunately, there is no way around it software wise. What I did was put all my music through a program called 'MP3Gain' whose purpose is to adjust the volume of MP3 files. You didn't mention if you streamed music or listened to your music in the cloud - if that's so then, regrettably, I cannot be of any help - but, as I mentioned, MP3 files can be adjusted.

Hope this helps.
