10240 upgrade from 10166 keeps failing and restores previous version

This is the only upgrade that has failed among my four computers. I gets to about 23 percent (blue circle) and then restarts and restores previous version. It has been upgraded from a legal version of windows 8.1 through many upgrades which all went smoothly, until 10240. I have checked the product key and it shows this Edition: Win 10 Pre-Release Core Retail. Windows is activated. Has anyone else had this problem?

The problem could be a bad driver. Unfortunately there is no error message.
I suggest clean install build 10240

I agree with Roland. I had the exact same issue and it was my BIOS driver which was out of date and also I had to go to Windows + R and make sure "normal boot" was selected. Now it gets all the windows updates like it should and it doesn't freeze after downloading and installation of the updates. So go to Windows +R and then type "msconfig" and then make sure you are on "normal startup" and check your drivers. That should fix the issues. Let us know afterwards once its fixed.
