Battery life on mine was horrible at first but it got much better after a week or so. And I actually had the same experience with my first 8.0 device, also a 925.

your battery life will be about 1/2 to 1/4 compared to 8.0

My battery life is hit and miss. Sometimes it will be pretty decent and other times completely horrible. Even when it's "decent" it's not as good as 8.0 though.

this was mine a few days ago... best thing is to charge just until 100% and detach it from charger in within 10 mins after reaching 100%... well that works best for me though...

I gave up on 8.1 and went back to 8.0 Hoping it will work better once it available with firmware updates through tmo.

I have better battery on 8.1 and the phone is a little quicker and smoother as well.

Just make sure you reset the phone (go into setting, about and reset) before you do the update and then after the update as well. Don't restore from back up either, just go to the store and download all the apps fresh.

Your getting a new phone so you will not only have worse battery for the first few days because of 8.1 but also because the phone is new. Be prepared to have bad battery for at least a couple of days.

Just update - 8.1 offers many handy new features. Even though I am not a fan of the notifcation center, it gives quick access to handy settings. A tip from me, make sure you get the tile referring to the old music hub! Don’t like the new Xbox Music on Windows Phone 8.1? Here’s how to bring back the old one | Windows Phone Central

The new app has a nice interface, but the old hub is way way way faster and smooth. Use that until the new app improves, else your music experience will deter. Have fun with your new phone!
