my battery on mu surface rt got hot while charging and continues to get hot when off

i plugged my surface rt to charge and the battery got very hot, took it off the charger and still continues to get hot, I cool it off and turns hot again, all this while is off

Hi I don't answer many phone threads, but this seems easy. If your battery stays hot all the time; not a good sign. How hot is the battery? How are you cooling it off?

10"+ tablet right around the 2012 era?

Sounds to me like a short in there somewhere and I'd be concerned that it could spontaneously combust. Would seriously keep an eye on it and if can put it somewhere where out of harms way, not near anything flammable. Battery isn't removable so that is not an option unless your good at swinging a sledge LOL.
