Ok, another new 822 question. Son is trying to do something on his phone and it says "Please go to <I forget website name> and setup My Family". You go to that page and it just shows 4 or 5 tips on how to get started with WP. Nothing about setting up My Family. It won't let him get past this for what he wants to do.

What is this about? How can I turn this off? Thanks in advance.

Was it www.windowsphone.com ? That is the website where you can manage your phone, like if you lose it, you can ring, lock or erase it; install previously purchased apps and much more. Maybe there is something on the website to do with My Family. I have Verizon, possibly it is an ATT option?

Thanks for the reply. The website sounds right. It is on Verizon as well. I don't know why he's getting redirected there. It only happens when he tries to do a certain thing. I wonder if it is because he is a child line on my ex's parent line account?

It's because he is a minor & the age he put in on his Microsoft account. Same thing happened to my daughter. She couldn't buy any apps or music, etc. from the market place. It kept asking the same thing. I finally figured it out & changed her age on her Microsoft account to 18 & that fixed it.

My understanding is that can go to Windows Phone (United States), sign in, select your name, select My Family, and add each Windows Phone member of your household. It is a version of the Family Safety so if you have Family Safety setup, you have to remove the members from that before adding them onto the My Family. Once this is done, you can use it to manage what the kids can and cannot view, purchase, etc. In my case, since I am the only one with WP8 right now, I added each of my two children and they appear under My Family, but whenever they attempt to do something MS deems needs parental permission, it directs them to a sign in page where I have to sign in with my credentials. Once I am signed in, then they can do whatever the particular action was. If they do a different action (say purchase an app while the first action was accessing a certain site), then I would do the sign in again.
Once the rest of my family is on WP8 I should be able to do all of that from the My Family section through any PC or my phone instead of the sign in on their phones.
I hope this makes sense as far as my experience. If I am doing this incorrectly, someone with knowledge please let me know. :)

Thank you to everyone on these forums by the way. These forums are definately helpful.

Log in on your account and adjust his settings to allow him to download games and music if that is what you are trying to do.
