My Lumia 1520 has stopped reading my SIm

After one year of usage, my lumia 1520 has suddenly stopped reading the Sim. I swapped to install a brand new sim yet it comes up with a screen error. can anyone help me please?

I kinda wondered that myself...

I know I've removed balky SIM cards and just wiped them down and had them work again... But that's if they get handled often and recently. Get some of the finger oils off...

Have you tested that sim on another device? Maybe it's sim's fault.

Yes I tested it on another device and it works fine,and when i put the other sim in. it still says, "sim error"

If your 1520 will not read any sim then take it in for repair. It really is that simple.

You took ' ... it in for repair ... ' with NO results, that's troubling.

It worked for a year, then suddenly stopped working ... where did you get the phone ?
where did you take it for repair ?
did they test it with a sim, after repair ?

unless it's really funky in the sim tray (use compressed air for computers), I got nothing.
Repair shop should've tested it ... and NO, that's not normal, unless you changed some sim settings. Reboot the phone w/o the sim, then insert the sim, if still sim error ?????

IF it was a carrier locked phone originally, which was unlocked (using an unlock code) ... after hard reset, new software, etc, may have to be unlocked, again.
