My lumia 920 screen is black but the os is running

The same thing happened to my dad's phone - Lumia 625,not once but twice and both the tines we just did 1 thing.. Kept it on charge. After nearly 3hours the phone switched on , on its own and worked fine. No reset needed...

Thanks, you are life save for me too.
Bern able to feel all the vibrations all day, and phone rings, and Alarms go off, but screen is Blank.
Now after Pressing Vol- and the Power button for ten seconds, it did a reset and works OK.
Thanks again.

Hi

I suffered the zero-battery issue with my 920 (battery totally discharges so cannot power PMU to allow charging !!! ) and put on radiator to create tiny power to enable charge. I believe the process of this heating the phone has weakened the display driver and it is now difficult to bring the display up - i need to repeatedly press the standby button and very occasionally the display jumps into life. I replaced the whole display unit (which is not easy) yet this has not solved it so i'm pointing my finger at the chipset. So i'm also concluding there is a weakness in the Qualcomm chipset to drive the display.

My phone is out of warranty (especially since i've replaced the screen myself) so after a full system reset, the phone will hit the bin.

keep holding the power off button for 15 seconds and then hold the volume down button.. worked for my lumia 925

Thanks for the help. This really worked out for me. I am having Lumia 640XL, and was facing the same problem here. But the regular, power + vol. down button combo didn't help. But the trick you suggested worked! Thanks a lot!
