I love my NL920 especially in camera department but there is one situation I wish I had an iPhone.

In a place where light is perfectly set like in a museum or art gallery that allow us to take a photo, the subject is brighten up by a spot light and the surrounding are pretty dark. IPhone tend to capture a photo as it is, bright is bright and dark is dark. My 920 brighten up everything. My photo look flat. I use Nokia pro cam and set the ev to 0, -1, -1.7, -2, it didn't help at all. Sure the overall photo look slightly darker but the dark part of the photo still as bright as the bright part.

How do I set my camera to not compensate for the dark part of the photo? Any tip for this?

Sorry I don't have sample photo to show you. But if you know what my problem was, please help.

The iPhone has HDR turned on, that's probably why. HDR does that, it takes 3 pictures at different exposures and then combines them. This is how it ends up with bright being bright and dark being dark. There are HDR apps on WP that can do that. Try them out.

Try to manually set a lower ISO, or if it's already at the minimum of 100, then use a faster shutter speed.

Yeah, you better try some HDR apps like 4Blend (this is what I'm using), but you need to handle your phone steadily when using this app. Lumias are relatively slow with taking photos compared to iPhones and Android, but it's usually worth the wait.

Iphone 5S beats the 920 Camera in any situations ... there's no doubt abt it...
P.S :- i am a 920 user and i love the 920....

iPhone 5 camera is better than 920. iPhone 5 camera produced sharp and realistic color of pictures especially in bright light. However, 920 take better pictures in low-light. Overall iPhone 5 camera is better unless Nokia will fix the camera algorithm of 920 that produces yellowish and blurry pictures.

I thought the same but i was pretty much amazed to see the Iphone 5s perform better in low light situations too......
For portrait photography, 920 in low light gets way too blurry and takes a long time to focus, you cant expect the subject to be standing still like a statue..
where as Iphone5s takes brighter in less shutter speed and focuses instantly, therefore blur reduced...However it is grainy...

Thank you but actually that iPhone didn't have HDR turn on. And by turn HDR on, everything will be illuminated which is exactly the opposite of what I tried to accomplish.

I haven't tried the 5s yet but judging by my experience with 5 I would have to say I wouldn't surprise if it is.

I have tried the EV but not the ISO. I think this could make some different. I will definitely try next time.
