Thought I would drag my old Moto G, brush of the dust, set it up with the same apps, email, calendar etc as my Lumia 930 and do a basic head to head. The L930 has had the latest version of windows 10 installed for about three days. The test is basically with everything closed, launching apps and which ever one loads the app with full content ready to read or play first get the point. Read below when I rolled back to WP8.1.
Moto g (M) vs L930 WP10 (L) - Results from below: M 14 and L 7
Fitbit load - M (won by about 5 seconds)
words - M (L didn't load all the word games only the first two)
chess - M (very close but the M was 0.5 seconds faster)
Darts Match - L (L much quicker by about 4 seconds here probably due to the faster graphics power)
Twitter - M (M launching and loaded latest tweets about 3 seconds faster)
endomondo - M & L (draw)
Quiz Up - M (M loaded the latest games about 10 seconds quicker, this happened twice, probably something wrong with the L app)
Email - L (L loaded emails 1 second quicker)
Messaging - M & L (draw)
Facebook Messenger - M (M loaded the messages ready to read and connected to reply 2 seconds faster)
Facebook - M ( M loaded facebook with autoloading a video 5 seconds faster)
Download Asphalt 8 speed and launch - M (L failed to download, initially, slower to launch)
News - M & L (draw)
Camera - M (L slower to launch, focus and take pictures)
Candy Crush saga - L (L had the game ready to play 3 seconds faster)
Calendar - L (L had the calendar loaded 1 seconds faster)
Met office - M (M launched the app 2 seconds faster)
Battery - M 69% - L56% (had both screens on and tried to do similar things on both devices at the same time over the same period)
Now the same test with L930 WP8.1 (L8) vs the Moto G = Results from below: M 7 and L8 15

Another test was how long the people hub on WP10 vs 8.1 took to load my facebook and twitter feeds, this is tricky to test, but timing 5 attemps on the WP10 and then later once the 8.1 had been reinstalled showed considerable better times, 8.1 would take 1-3 seconds to update, where as WP10 would take 4-15 seconds.
These test basically tell me WP10 is far slower than WP8.1 on my Lumia 930 and also my old moto g is still quite a quick phone, beats the L930 on WP10, but doesn't come close to my L930 running 8.1.
