Need help - revert back to original

Hi All,

I just received a L635 and I used Windows Insider to install Windows 10 on my 635..big mistake. There are some bugs and it cannot detect anything off my SD card. no photos, no music, nothing.

After playing around with it, I've decided to revert it back to 8.1. I downloaded the Window recovery tool but I've had no luck.

When i plug the phone into the computer the recover tool detects the phone. I select the 635 and then it 'reads' the phone info with a 'please wait' message. It gets stuck on this screen for 30+ minutes. I tried resetting the phone and then use the recovery tool - no luck. I restarted my computer, no luck.

My goal is to revert it back to 8.1 and then use window insider for the denim update...but not for win10.

Any help to get past that screen within the recovery tool and revert my phone back to 8.1?

There is no trick which works 100% sure but try below suggestions. (and hope one will work)
-Use other USB cables (actual you should start with the one which you got with your phone)
-Use another USB post,
-Use another computer

Lumia 635 doesn't come with USB cable, charger has fixed cable.

Windows Insider only seems to upgrade to WinPhone 10. Does Preview for Developer give you choice of OS?

You are right- I don't believe it gives me choice but I believe I got denim before win10.

Any idea how to revert it back to 8.1? I've tried different cables and methods. Do I need to bring to Microsoft store?

so sad - still no luck with this. I might just have to donate this phone because with all the bugs on W10 it is very unstable...
