Negative Reaction to MS Once Again

All metro apps. Yeah it stands for Runtime.

What's the problem with it?

It's just obtuse and unanimous. It doesn't have any sophistication. Imagine moving into a house with walls that looked like Windows 8. And it also looks like an Xbox menu. Who was the person in charge of this?

Is it just scrapped this together from Windows phone... ? I'd still buy one but this was my initial impression.

Why doesn't it have an interface like Courier, or (now) PixelSense?

:straight:
Are you not aware that MS is pushing the Metro UI across all platforms for a more unified/cohesive ecosystem?

Yes.. I'm aware of that. But why start with, where did it come from, Xbox?

Windows 7 is a beautiful OS. 8 has all these hard colors, splashes of Kool-aid.. it's just intuitive enough to be interesting. But what was the competition?

I mean were there any other concepts?

Start with Xbox?, the 360 didn't even come up withe Metro if that's what you're getting at. Metro spawned from Zune more or less and is unique to Windows Phone. Then MS pushed into onto Xbox and now Win8.

What was the competition of what? The other competing designs within the company? I"m not sure anyone knows. I think MS jumped straight to Metro.
