They didn't mention it in the announcement, I guess to build up the anticipation as you'd expect. Visitors at CES will be the first to know

I'm keeping a keen eye out of reports from journalists who are there this week.

They did say they were giving it a refresh last fall, but no details on what that would entail. Updated version of NuAns NEO Windows 10 Mobile phone in the works | Windows Central

Best Guess:

• Better screen resolution (upgrade from 720p to 1080p)
• More internal storage (upgrade from 16GB to 32GB)
• Add RAM (upgrade from 2GB to 3GB)

I hope they advertise their phones properly this time. My suggestion of giving unbiased phone reviewers a test model to review on should've been done instead of them hoping on word of mouth and japanese social media to promote the phone

They had made an attempt with a Kickstarter campaign which sadly did not achieve its target. There is a financial overhead of distributing phones internationally as it costs more to configure different bands for each territory and they need to handle after sales support so it would require a service centre in that country. It all adds up. It would be great if Microsoft helped startup ODMs with an initial investment.

I didn't know about this. I read about the nuans when they first released it and tried to buy it without any luck. If I'd known about this pledge, I would've pledged for one.

Again no one is aware of this other than the forums. They should've done more advertising through Microsoft store website or something more prominent

Take a look at the Neowin article posted above, it includes an interview with them.
In short though, you won't be able to buy it outside of Japan, and no new updates to announce at this point. He does hint at something being worked on though, but what that is would be pure speculation.

I am hoping that they release a new device.*Either a little slimmer and more budget friendly or a*powerhouse ready for Continuum. I think there were a few too many trade-offs with the design that turned me off of*the*Neo.
