Newer models?

When going over devices for sale on ebay, it usually says "Nokia Lumia 1020 (Latest Model)", and also watching a disassembly video on Youtube he says that some of the earlier models didn't have black heatsink tape (min 3:10)

Note this is not about the different RM-875\RM-877 versions (for US/international) and not about the 32GB\64GB variant.
The question is, how can you know if you have the newer model?

He says in the video, when the phone is hot and you're playing a game if you notice you're dropping frames (the game stutters) you likely don't have the heat sink tape. If you notice this problem, try to contact Nokia Care and they should be able to help you out.

Alright, but there should be a way of knowing it without experimenting or opening the device, otherwise how do sellers know that it's the latest model?

My inclination is (LATEST MODEL) is for those not technically inclined who see that and think "latest model! woah!"
Its technically the latest model in the 10x0 lineup.
But eh, hardware revisions aren't unheard of, I imagine you probably,can't tell since the difference is even more minute than the mid-cycle spec bump for the Pro 2

The thing is, the "Latest Model" addition, which shows up on most of the 1020's that are on sale all over ebay (and regardless of different sellers, language posted in, or country of origin) doesn't show up on any other Lumias including newer ones, so it's only for the 1020 that ebay recognizes different models from which those who list it for sale have to choose from.

i noticed ebay listing catalogue actually adds the "latest model" info when the sellers are creating their listing and add the model from ebay's catalogue.

I recently had same appear on my symbian nokia 700's i was selling on there which obviously are not the latest model.
