Nice effect - set your lock screen to a blurred version of your home screen

Raindrop effect applied twice

I'm loving this thread, very cool result. Is this Photoshop as well? Would be nice if you showed the result 'in action' (with the date and time overlayed) so you can see how legible things are. Looks like it would work well for this one.

Sorry about that - I uploaded the wrong picture. Here's the one "in action" I should have done:

I just did the effect through the Thumba Photo Editor App on my phone. There are loads of different filters in it.

Wish Russ a happy birthday from all of us, please.

pmsl :-)

Also now I look at it again, yeah my screen does look like Lego bricks!
Its a shame that you cant set the screen to always be on. My phone is on charge all day at my desk so it'd be nice to see the effect for longer than 5 seconds each time.

Here is my attempt, i used fantasia painter free, applied blur 3 times, lomography (2 times), c41 cross photo effect, mold and oil portrait effect. (Not necessarily in that order.)

Another beautiful contribution, really awesome what's being posted here. I guess my 'blurry background' has lost some of its luster already, but at least it helped get all these cool effects in one thread.

Lovely thread, here is my attempt

Photoshop:
Filter-->Waterpaper: Fiber length 49, Brightness 50, Contrast 54
Filter-->Motion Blur: Angle 45, Distance 266

Very classy result, thanks for sharing the detailed settings as well. It would be really nice if these kind of effects were built in and 'live'. At least MS can take some inspiration from this thread - if they spot it that is.

Edit: I like how the blurring of the messaging icon has turned it into a beam of light. Kind of gives it a Pantheon vibe. You know, to those that have been in Rome.
