I keep checking Lumia Icon on Microsoft site these few days especially after VZW retired it because I plan to switch to VZW because of this phone.
Currently I am using Lumia 920, nice phone and even better after windows 8.1 update.
However, I am not able to see the phone shipped from Microsoft store anymore, it is only available from Amazon.
I know the name "Nokia" has been replaced by "Microsoft Lumia" recently. Is it possible Lumia Icon will be re-branded and re-list on Verizon?
I prefer high-end phone more though 830 is good but it is considered as mid-end.

i ordered an upgrade just the other day from Microsoft ...
Buy Nokia Lumia Icon for Verizon - Microsoft Store

also from the Microsoft store, if you watch the video about the phone it now says "installed with windows 8.1, you can customize live tiles, view and edit you office documents, and easily sync to your one drive..." so I'm excited to see if it comes with 8.1 now. even if not the 8.1 DP is rock solid and there really is no worries about voiding your warranty...

Nice catch. Either a nice prelude or an overlooked snafu.

Good luck, this phone has been buried. I'm running the dp and have weird issues like the phone takes 5 seconds to wake up, and wifi will just stop working and have to restart the phone. No Bluetooth 4.0 either without cyan.

Do let us know what your ICON shipped with in terms of firmware
Yes, I will I'm waiting very impatiently, this is an upgrade for one of the other lines on my account, but I'm just as excited as if it was my own. It should be here tmrw so I will keep everyone up to date...

My ICON was rock solid running the 8.1 DP for the six months I used it. Issues seem to be hit/miss with some tho. A lot are very smooth. All there is to do is give it a try.

This question has come up a lot. Wasn't the ICON released before the sale of Nokia to Microsoft ? If that is the case, why would it change from Nokia to Microsoft ?

Verizon MIGHT re-release it but, your guess is as good as mine. I would think if they are going to re-release it maybe with a change in features (if it comes with MicroSD, I will be pissed off) or just the fact that it will come with Cyan/Denim in the box.

I could understand from a business standpoint why they would drop a model and not give any info. Business 101 would tell you, if your trying to clear out product before coming out with a new one, don't tell the advantages of the new one, as no one will buy the old one. It's just the basics here.

So, maybe they will re-release it...Maybe...but, with everything with Verizon, I would not hold your breath....as you might not make it to see Cyan, never mind WIn 10..

If MS vs Nokia was the reason, then the 928 and the 822 would have been D/C'ed as well. Also MS would publicly announce that all Nokia phones would be D/C'ed and re-released as MS phones.

I was down at the Microsoft Store yesterday and the Icon on display was still on 8.0 w/Black along with the T-Mobile Lumias. The ONLY phones running WP8.1/Cyan were the AT&T Lumias. And the HTC M8 was the ONLY Verizon phone running WP8.1.

I mentioned the rumor that Verizon retired the Icon to the manager; and she said that as far as Microsoft is concerned, the Icon is NOT retired and that it is still available via Microsoft. She was rather perplexed as to why Verizon would retire the Icon and NOT the 928. At any rate, I will give a little more credence to a Microsoft employee than to a Verizon or other third party rep when it comes to Microsoft products.

My Verizon business rep told me that today that the Icon is no longer available, even after they listed it as a 4th quarter promotion for business. I have ordered a number from her, as late as two weeks ago. She said the 928 is available.

still showing in the Microsoft Store online and I saw one yesterday personally for sale when I went to a Microsoft Store near where I live

The Icon cannot be found anywhere on the Verizon site which makes Microsoft's and Verizon's silence on the status of the Icon all the more confusing

Well no cyan :-(
The phone came yesterday and it was loaded with WP 8.0. So first thing I installed 8.1DP. She is really happy with the phone. She had wanted the Icon in the first place, but a customer service rep at one of the local VZW corp stores "convinced" her to get the HTC one 8m (Android version) instead.
