No wonder WP7 marketshare sucks

In my opinion its better for Microsft, Nokia and other dedicated WP OEM's to focus on 1 - 2 carriers at a time. This way it allows them to create a formula that works on the sales and marketing side of things. They can then use that formula replicate and modify and use it on other carriers.

Here is my opinion about the "rumored" Lumia 900 delay

The Bad
- Slowly loosing all the hype from MWC and CES
- Dedicated fans cant wait that long

The good
- People don't really know about the platform. For the majority 99% they don't follow CES, MWC
- Gives them time to train staff and work on marketing campaigns
- Gives developers more time to create apps especially when Nokia distributed over 25 000 Lumia's to developers
- Nokia and Microsoft will probably firesale the device at 49.99$ for the first month with heavy marketing and sales training this can easily be the featured phone over any Androids and iPhones at the time

IMO I see more good than bad but as a avid fan and a technology enthusiast I would love to have my device early and at a great price rumored 499$ in Canada :P

In regards to marketshare its really the carriers holding the phones from really taking off. I don't understand why stores like AT&T sub divide their stores into different sections. Have a section for all the Apple products iPhone/iPad with live displays, have a section for all the Androids and of course have a section with crazy colors and live tiles for our Windows Phone.

That way WP's are placed in the wrong locations

to be honest, to relese it when SGS 3 has arrived or almost has would be a mistake from Nokia. So i hope they get it out before sgs 3 hits the market.

Anyway i find it strange since WP is an american made os that it has so hard to get big there. But i don't know if Nokia has done any advertising for the lumia 710 and those in the US. That could explain why. But they will be advertising when it comes to the 900..

Was recommended by a sells man at 3 today to go with the Lumia 800 and not wait for the HTC one X because there is often battery problems with HTC devices :)..

Currently, they are #2 and #3 of T-Mobile US's three highest rated smartphones. Only the Galaxy 2S is rated higher.

Highest rated doesn't mean highest selling. I'd be willing to bet you 50p that the phones rated below that sell much more than the WP7 models.

I'm sure you're right, but over the long run, good ratings can only help sales. These things don't happen in a month, or even a year. The US smartphone market is so dominated by Apple and Android that there's no way for WP to get noticed quickly. Even BlackBerry has much better brand recognition, although they've taken a beating the last couple of years.

This is why later this year is so important, with WP8 and BB10 coming out at about the same time. BB currently has about 13% of the US market. It would be theoretically easier for WP to take a bite out of that market share than to make a dent in Apple's or Android's. But, based on the Playbook's OS, BB10 may be very good, so WP8 will have to be very good too. And one thing in WP's favor right now is the rapid growth in the app Marketplace. If WP were to jump to, say, 6% of the US market by the end of 2012, by knocking BB back to about the same level, that would be a huge win for WP. At that point, people will start to notice.
