So, today I decided that I would make a comparison of the differences between Nokia Camera, and the Default Camera.
The results were unexpected. 1476712_10202772757060442_60805256_n.jpg

i did the just the same yesterday. nokia cam wins the first picture for me. the second too close to call. i did a few others and preferred the nokia cam in all i think where there was a noticeable difference (like in the first picture)

well my new white 920.1 simfree arrived a couple of days ago. after reading this thread whilst waiting for it to arrive, i was a little concerned how the camera would be with the latest amber update. to be honest i'm more than happy with the results. all pics were taken with flash off, all else to auto.

sorry for the bathroom shots but i wanted to see how whites came out and that is pretty much as white as it gets in my flat  generally from what i have seen i prefer the nokia camera results vs just the stock camera app.

I take it that's on a tripod and using auto for everything?

So what's your opinion? They look the same? You like the default better?

Saying the results were unexpected, what exactly does that mean?

I really liked the Default camera more than the Nokia cam, No tripod, i was just standing there, and yeah, auto for everything, that is why i would much rather prefer using the Nokia cam being able to change to manual, and adjust what has to be done, it takes a good photo, but for a quick snap, i would rather use Default cam. Also in the photo, at the same distance, Default cam has a large FOV. I found, before i installed the Dev GDR3, my photos were tinted yellow, but quite a few people had that problem.

I have the Nokia Camera set as my default. I personally like it over the default, though there's nothing wrong with the default. I personally like my photos more with Nokia Camera and I like having those settings easily available if I want them. :)

Everyone is different in what they like. I see the smartphone camera is more fun than anything serious.

Personally the only disappointment I've had with Nokia camera apps is Panorama. That app really frustrates me. (not to move this thread into another discussion)

+1

I completely agree. I love Nokia camera aha. It just makes it so much easier.
its good getting exclusive apps like that from Nokia.

I have the Nokia Camera set to default too. I love the interface and how it works. As you said, default works well. I might have to try a comparison myself just to see how it goes for me.

Sorry for the late reply, been busy with some assignments. Haven't really had that much time to take many test pictures. I have a few, but they are not that great. Not much difference between them honestly. Shots were taken on all auto settings under artificial lighting. I'll try and get some outdoor shots

guys is it normal behaviour for the flash to briefly flash before a picture is taken even with flash set to 'off'? it seems to be part of the focusing process and happens on both the nokia camera and stock camera.

that happens because of the "focus assist" option - the default setting is "on". That's a WP standard feature. Go into the camera settings and turn it off if you don't want to use any sort of flash or focus assist lights.

Its flash assisted focus
if its bothersome... you can switch it off from the settings

oh ok that is what it is! thanks for the reply. what is the general feeling, that it is better with it 'always off', 'set by flash' or 'auto'?
