Nokia software Update for retail not detecting my Lumia 720

I isntalled Nokia software update for retail , but it does not detect my Lumia and stays at connect device..

What is the OS you have in your PC?? because lumia 720 supports from service pack3, windows7 and windows8...

Me too having same problem.. OS is windows xp sp3 only..

buy a new PC, btw I'm just joking.
but its most probably a drivers issue, what can you do: search for the driver, navifirm has a couple that may help, that's what I have on mind, its very different when you face the issue.
And you can wait a couple of days, the update is just around the corner

Like somebody above mentioned it is driver issue. Try connecting to another Pc it might work.

I had the same problem.
It did not work if I connected the phone to the USB 3.0 port in my notebook.
When I plug-in to port USB 2.0, it works like a charm.

why do u actually use the nokia updater rather than updating thru OTA?

i mean, updating thru OTA, saves downloading efforts, data and preserves everything on ur phone. it makes sense, after all.
