Notification headset freezes taskbar in windows 10

[Windows Central Question]

Recently every time I put my headphones in and the notification pops up, it stays there and I can't click it away. Then my entire taskbar freezes and the only solution I have found is to press the windows button and it will restart or something.
This is not a permanent solution though as it freezes again when I pull my headphone back out.

Does anyone have a solution for this?
