I love how Windows Phone 7 does notifications, much better than iOS on the iPhone. But is there a way to view past notifications, ala Android? Or do they disappear forever after a few seconds?

they disappear forever. there are however 2 tricks you can do with them: if you press the notification on a locked screen and unlock the screen you will follow the notification automatically. the other trick is that you can slide the notification to the right to get rid of it sooner

I truly think Apple's is going to have to do a refresh own their OS in the next two years.

I kinda wonder if they'll call iOS 5.0 this summer or not. They're gonna have to update their system.

For one, it would be required to add widgets, as well a legit notification system.

I think it would be nice to have a list of all recent notifications, maybe a swipe to the left from the home screen or something...

That would be sweet...I ignore a lot of notifications, then forget about them, it would be great to see a running list...

No, widgets are crap you find on Android phones that take up whole screens. Live tiles are the same size as icons on the iOS, but contain live information. If you jailbreak an iPhone, you can install things that do that to the weather and clock icon: make them live.

Ok. I agree with the OP. I think notifications should stay visible until cleared.

i said this for iOS and same can happen for wp7... why not have a live tile with some of the notifications in it. once you select the icon, you see all your notifications.

I agree. What we have with the non intrusive notifications is great. But having them disappear and never show up again isn't enough.

Not so sure about that one you could be right but it would be a significant break from the 'appliance model' that has made them so successful. It would need a proper multitasking system which Apple has steadfastly resisted thus far.

as well a legit notification system.

Definitely, their current one is intrusive and annoying.

Im confused about when A notification bar/banner pops up and when it doesnt, depending on where u r in the phone. Do they not pop up when your in a 3rd party app? It should just happen no matter what your doing. Maybe not in games?

it shows up at the top, like the pre palm does at the bottom.

+1 for that. Also like the Notification Live Tile though. Anything to let me view a toast longer than 3-4 seconds. Some 3rd Party apps have good toast implementation but basically useless cause they disappear so damn fast.
