I know my way around any PC, and any version of Windoze from the ancient 286 > 3.0 > 3.1 > 3.11 > 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, on up to now Windows 7. But I am a total n00b when it comes to these Win Mobile phones :( So could anyone give me a quick and simple what do I need to do to put WM 6.5.1 on my Verizon TP2 without cooking it? And which ROM is the most suggested to get? I would really appreciate this help, and I am SURE there are other n00bs on here as well, but are just afraid to ask (don't own flame suits LOL).

And if anyone ever needs help with their computer, or car racing (I am in SCCA and know a bit about suspension, tires, driving LOL), home theater, or paintball - I am here for you!!!!! Thanks much!

I think the only way to get 6.5.1 on your TP2 right now, is to install a custom(cooked) rom. Either that, or wait for HTC and your carrier to officially release the 6.5.1 upgrade for your device. I'm not sure which cooked rom is the best but to be honest with you, that's probably more of a personal prefence, so you should try different one's to see which works best for you. But FYI, some stuff from the 6.5.1 custom roms don't work properly because that software is in beta right now. (*So you'll probably find yourself flashing those on an almost daily basis, due to the fact they're(the chefs) always updating them.*)

If I install a custom rom on my TP2, will I be able to upgrade next year when Sprint and HTC release the ''oficial" ROM update?

"I believe so." But to be honest with you, it would be kind of pointless to want the official upgrade if you're flashing custom roms. Simply because most of the custom roms that you flash now have the newest of the new software from HTC and Windows, so nothing would be new to you once you get the official upgrade.

How long have you had a WM Device?
IMO I don't think a n00b should jump into a Cooked ROM without pushing his stock tp2 to the limits with cabs. If you find your limits slowed down by the stock tp2 features and wmExperts list of cabs. Feel free to Flash to another ROM. Please keep in mind this unlocker JUST came out. I am giving the anxious people plenty of time to test it out to garner my own opinion on the ROMs out right now. I trusted the developers in the past and they provided a great experience for me. With that said I also waited FOREVER for Sprint to upgrade my Rom when I had the Diamond. Good luck and if you need any help feel free to PM me. I have done about 20-30 hard resets since Sept 15th and have about 10 Backups with 10 different setups bc I am never satisfied with tp2's limits.
