I've a recently acquired 822 and when I was getting it the word on the street was that Verizon phones are unlocked. So an off contract unlocked 929 seems very tantalising.
Question is the rumoured $500 of contract price. All of this I've read online, is any of it true?

Rumors have been $500-$600. I think there's a 64gb variant at play too. So my speculation, which is... speculative at best: 32gb 929 - $500, 64gb 929 - $600.

Seems more likely, now that the 1520 is at $549 on ATT off contract :)

The off contract price for Nokia phones is usually relatively low. Of course this and the 1520 are the first to launch with hardware competitive to the other high end phones just launching. I'm hoping for $500 since I'm buying off contact too.

the 1520 off contract not unlocked runs about $400.
929 has the same specs but smaller screen. Does that mean cheaper or more expensive?
I think it can reach $400 really quickly

I say this phone will be between $500 and $600 but I can be wrong.

By the time they release this thing it's going to be on six month old "flag ship" specs. So let's hope it's $99 on contract and ~$500 off contract (will be more $$ because it's a "new" phone).
