I installed the app and selected slow ring option. Was just fiddling with the app and then uninstalled it and restarted the phone. But now when I checked the phone update, it found one and downloading the same. I guess the insider preview OS update has been triggered. Is the any way to stop this as Nokia Lumia 830 is my daily driver and I don't want to risk it. What can be done? Please tell soon

re:

You can simply disconnect your phone from the Internet. You may consult this article for steps on How to stop getting Insider builds of Windows 10 Mobile.

Nonetheless, the most recent build (10586) which is available both through the Insider Ring and Fast Ring, is already stable and suitable for most of the newer devices as a daily driver. Users have reported positive behavior of the Lumia 830 running Windows 10 Mobile build 10586.

re:

It should wait for your approval - normally a prompt/notification will appear that an update is ready to be installed or downloaded, and in my experience it has never restarted or installed it on its own without me telling/allowing it to do so.

I did the same. The update still lingers on my phone build 10586.29 .

I had to use Windows device recovery tool to reflash the windows 8.1 OS. Once you opt for slow or fast ring, there is no easy out

How did you get back to 8.1? WP 10 crapped out on my 830, can't get any email accounts to sync, so I downloaded the newest version of the Windows Recovery Tool and ran that, and it didn't give me an option to go back to 8.1, the only option I had was to re-install the latest build. I'm puzzled by that.

For "latest build" it means the latest farm build for that phone. 8.0 Cyan or 8.1 Denim
