Original Nokia cover -> display does not turn on when opening cover. Why?

I just got the original Nokia cover for my 930. But when I open it I need to press the power button to turn on the screen - it does not turn on automatically.

Surely there is a way to have the device detect when the cover is being opened? How is that done?

You can also double tap the screen, make sure its turned on in Settings> Touch.

I think usually a case will cover the light sensor which is how it knows the case is closed.

I didnt know WP supports that. Does it? (don't know how HTC dotcover works though)

its normally magnets in the cover and then the device someone detects this, not sure how its done but maybe just not built in. If it wasn't on the cover description or specifications I wouldn't expect it too.

My sister has the HTC One M7 and she has to press the power button when she opens her cover
