Peoples Hub Integration

So this is more of a developer related thread.. Does WP8 or even 7 allow for 3rd party apps to integrate with the peoples hub? Its would be really nice to see apps like whatsapp or any other instant messaging app to integrate with the peoples hub. Considering its actually one of their UPS's

Yeah, I'm pretty disappointed that WhatsApp doesn't integrate with it and I need a separate app for that. Would love to have WhatsApp and Steam chat together with the people app.
