Person's details remain after deletion

Entering an initial letter against "To:" when creating a new email message, fetched two cases of the same person's email address with the email address repeated below plus that person's name with his email address below. I deleted that person from 'People'. Now there is one case of the same person's email address with the email address repeated below plus that person's name with his email address below. Why do they still display? Do they reside elsewhere?

I think the only way to remove this is a hard reset... :unhappy:
