Why would you wish to use the phone as a Very Expensive webcam? If you have PC working for video calls it implies WiFi connectivity, so simply attach the phone to WiFi and use a suitable app on the phone. Walk around as you talk :)

What is the point of this? It's not a webcamera, it's an independent device, but it connects to your PC to transfer data, because it doesn't have a decent way of handling files itself.

Guys, seriously this looks more of a primary school than a mature s/w discussion!! If somebody is asking a question then answer it, why are you asking him/her questions like why do you need this!!

If you need to use your phone as a webcam for your computer then I suggest you replace your obviously-very-old computer. Webcams have been standard on computers for years now.

There isn't one, according to a colleague of mine. He tried to set up a WP as a webcam, but he found no way to do it. An old Android he had laying around worked very well, and was very simple to set up.

yep seems a gap in the market (there was one but it only had a 30 second limit in trial mode which was not long enough to actually test it (why do some developers insist on making thier trials unusable, though to be honest i never really fully get why developers feel the need to limit thier trial versions at all, but thats just me)

I don't understand why not videochat with the Skype App on the phone.

I really don't.

in my situation it was to test an app called facerig, skype on the phone would of been somewhat irrelevant, fixed the issue by digging out my old s4 and using that as a webcam.

Have since brought a proper webcam, not that the android was not ok for it just better to have dedicated
