Phone keeps trying to shut off

Hi everyone,
I've been running WP 8.1 on my Lumia 928 since April, and I've loved it! In the last couple of days, though, it seems like my lock button has not been responding well, almost as if it is always partially depressed. As a result, the screen asking me to slide down to shut off appears very often without me holding the power button. I noticed that it looks like the top right of the screen is slightly higher than the buttons (a very small gap), and while I do drop my phone on occasion (nothing ever crazy, no cracks or damage), I've had a Trident Aegis case on it since I bought it in July 2013. Is this a software glitch, or do I need to fix something else?

From what you said, it looks like a hardware problem. Maybe the buttons got misplaced after a fall.
