Picking A Phone

So I made a post a while ago about waiting for maybe 1030 or 940 before getting a new phone, but a couple days ago my galaxy died so I am in need of a new phone. Picked up the $179 BLU phone last night (thought I would give it a try, even without 4GLTE), as I can return it to Microsoft Store. Played around with it for a little and I think it may be too slow for me. (Even my old GS3 felt faster). I am pressing the keys on the keyboard and sometimes they do not respond unless I press really hard, etc. Also I guess the lack of 4G LTE is a bummer.

Now I was planning to return it but was wondering what you guys thought of the other options. I am on AT&T so the other two options would be 840 or HTC One M8. Maybe 1020 as well, but it's a bit small. In terms of non windows phone, I like the Galaxy S5 as well. Very fast phone.

I don't really care too much about apps, the only one I really use on android is Google Hangouts but I can live without it. I planned to switch to Windows when 1030 or 940 comes out anyway. Assuming it will only be a few months before new W10 phones are out (maybe 6-8 months?). I think the S5 will have the highest resale value in that time, with the HTC coming in second, and the 840 and 1020 not being worth much then? Let me know your thoughts, thanks!

If you're after good resale value you can't beat an iPhone :p. Followed by the S5, I'd probably chuck the One M8 in there too. Have you considered the 930?

I was only looking at phones from Microsoft Store / AT&T, I could only find no warranty 930s on amazon/ebay/etc. :(

Don't they sell the 930/Icon in MS Stores there? Can't you get Microsoft Complete with most phones too? (the extended warranty). Sorry if I'm wrong, but I live outside the US, so I'm basing this answer off my one visit to San Francisco ;P

Edit: oh hang on, you don't have an unlocked version of the 930 buyable in retail stores do you....man your carriers must suck sometimes

I think I will get a GS5 for now. I figure if I get a windows 8.1 phone now, it won't be updated for windows 10 for a few months anyway, so better to get one that starts with W10 in a few months when it is released.

the 930 was an international phone, it was never released in North America so we don't see that one here. To get one he'd have to ebay/amazon for it. The Icon is there and it pretty much is a 930, but its a Verizon exclusive and its apparently quite a bit locked down to the service and it doesn't even work on AT&T properly if unlocked anyways.

Well unfortunately besides that I wouldn't recommend anything else at the moment....I'd either wait or (if you don't really care about the camera) you could get the HTC One M8 with Windows....I will say it is one of the nicest phones I have ever held
