Wasn't the "play to" thing gonna be in 8.1? I use it on Windows 8.1 and its alright. I've been waiting for this since windows phone 7....

The Nokia PlayTo app has been in the store for months and works on 8.0 and 8.1.

I've got the app but it is not what WP needs. Play to needs to be built into the OS just like airplay. An app should be able to send music to a "play to"-compatible receiver for example Xbox 360. Everything that is not as good as airplay is not acceptable. The Nokia app is not even able to play all music in my collection.

Do you realize that baking an app in the system makes it impossible to update it often and when needed? The file formats that play to can reproduce is limited from the target device, where files would be reproduced

Yes but it should not be an app. It should be a part of the OS. Like play to in windows 8.1 and like airplay on an iPhone.

I should be able to start Spotify on my phone and then connect to a play to compatible device from inside Spotify.
