Playing audio files... will they add important features in WP 8.1?

I downloaded and installed the latest version of MP3tag (2.38?), and it has a very long list of genre's to choose from in the dropdown box but "Podcast" is not one of them!

You don't have to select from the dropdown, just type it in and save.

Ah, thanks, I'll give that a try.

... well, I took a ~3 hour MP3 I have, made its genre Podcast (did this in Explorer, not MP3Tag, but should make no difference), copied it to the Nokia. I don't see a folder in there named Podcasts, I just put it in a folder under Music. When I go to select Podcasts in Music + Videos it says "It's lonely in here. Go to the Store to add some podcasts."

Just to say the same issue you raised has been bugging me (having just invested in a newly released Windows Phone (Nokia Lumia 635). So, my total understanding and sympathy!

The ability to resume a music track is a 'Must' for me as it's something I've got used to on a wide variety of MP3 devices across several generations. Also I do it on my Android tablet via an inexpensive app (PlayerPro). Hence the (apparent) impossibility of doing it in on my WindowsPhone is an annoyance to say the least. And I'm surprised others on the thread are saying 'Why would anyone want to do it?' . Seems obvious to me ... I like to load up perhaps 10 or 15 albums and play them through. One often needs to pause and switch off the device ... when one switches back on, surely the most common wish will be to resume where one left off, not having to go through the steps of 1. Hunt for the album 2. Scroll through its tracks?

I guess the thread well illustrates that folks are different, in turn explaining why MS haven't implemented something that to some of us seem a logical need!

I don't know if they will implement it. My workaround has been to pause playback, lock the phone (press the power/lock button on the right side), and not turn off the phone. This is something of a hassle because I have to maintain a charge on it in the meantime and if the battery goes dead it turns off.
