Podcast options now that iTunes 11.1 is so bad

SOOOOOOO, what are people doing for podcasts out of curiosity? iTunes 11.1 is a goddamn trainwreck for podcasts and the only reason I've been keeping iTunes around is because of podcast syncing, although it looks like the Windows Phone desktop sync tool support podcast syncing for libraries now.

Maybe just go back to Zune desktop? I'm not opposed at all to running a 3rd party app on PC/Phone if they can stay in sync. My phone is on GDR2 and my desktop is running Windows 8, if that matters.

Doesn't the Windows Phone app dump the podcasts from Zune into the music hub which is annoying.

iTunes is still a good enough option but Zune interface is a bit better. There is an alternative I got to know about recently but haven't tried it yet SlapDash Podcasts | Windows Phone Apps+Games Store (United States)

Why not just use the built in podcast section under music? I know this has been around for a while in the states, but I thought Europe got it with GDR2

It says I have to plug it into a computer when I use it. Wish I could just browse podcasts without the need of a computer. :/

Because I listen to podcasts on both my PC and my phone, and that really doesn't help me much.

EDIT:

Based on what I've seen, I'm inclined to just move back to the Zune software, and re-evaluate later down the line. Xbox Music is still too much of a trainwreck, maybe the Windows 8.1 version will be better.

hmm... I have never been told to do this with my phone. All my podcasts download in the background with no problems or connections to my pc at all.

Because I listen to podcasts on both my PC and my phone, and that really doesn't help me much.

That clarifies the problem a bit. Not sure of a solution though

Because it doesn't work. Itunes no longer syncs the podcasts to the ipod. In addition all the old episodes of the podcasts have shown up in the list with little clouds by them. They cannot be deleted. I realize that I am behind the times still using an ipod. I have a droid phone and I guess I should just hook everything up to play the podcasts that way but I liked how things worked and now apple has gone and f888ed it up.

Yes there is. Yet, doesn't have my favorite podcast. Mike McConnell, WGN in Chicago.

And if you live outside the US, the sum total of podcasts available in the MS store is nil. Very poor effort by MS. Podcasts are available exclusively where all their customers aren't.

I'm syncing using Zune and WP8 desktop app, but the episodes are in an extreme disorder. No respect for episode numbers or anything, and it skips syncing a few episodes. Useless as it is now

Why is there so many pod casts missing from the windows phone store? Found a podcast I want to listen to. It's listed in itunes but is there a way to get it on windows phone?

Back to the OP question, since this thread got dug up, I started using BringCast last week after seeing the article about their new update, and man, I really like this app. Setting up the one thing that's missing is the ability to import from gPodder. The UI could use a bit of being more intuitive, but I really like the app.

I just tried BringCast but it doesn't have any of the pod casts I listen to. The built in podcast player has a couple but there's more listed in itunes that I'd like to have on wp8.It's pretty annoying.

You can add podcasts by entering the URL of the RSS feed, for podcasts not on the list. There isn't a podcast aggregator that has every podcast, so this is an important feature in any podcast app.

Tried that one too. I don't have a problem with the apps. I have a problem with missing podcasts.

Hmmm... I hadn't realized it but you're right - I don't see a way to remove a podcast, either.
