Turned data off, kept wifi alive, streamed podcasts the whole day, and opened up a few apps to read around - wpcentral app and rowi mostly. This thing is still not dead, and here's my proof.

For those who are averaging 6 hrs battery life, even after several full battery discharges and recharges, you should return your phone (or go through the warranty). That's just not average, normal, or acceptable with this phone, you might have a lemon device.

Unfortunately, Android has convinced many consumers that battery life like that is normal :(

Also, OP needs to check his math. 50% to 70% is not triple the battery life, it increased battery life by 1/3 but that's not tripled. If battery life were to be tripled he would have had to of seen 85% battery after one hour of heavy use.

A couple days ago I had 56% left after 19 hours. Bluetooth on and not connected, data on played a few games, and browsed the internet some not heavy use but still Probably the best battery I've ever had.

What do you consider heavy use, because if I'm listening to music and playing games and such which I would consider heavy use, I may get 5 hours on my Lumia 920. If I occasionally check facebook, read WP central and not use my phone much, I may get 8 to 10 hours use.

heavy usage is when you constantly use your smartphone for longer than 5 mins like keep using the wpcentral app for lets say 15 mins, then you open up the browser, and you play music then check the weather app for 30 mins.

Significant battery life improvement for me as well.

Previously by the end of the day it would be on battery saver.

Now I'm able get through a second day - with battery saver coming on around noon the next day.

Hi everyone,

Long time reader, first time forum participant. Had a Lumia 920 since the first weekend of availability.

I had middling battery life when I first got my phone, but I made a few adjustments and now easily get 24 - 36 hours on average from the phone with LTE, WiFi, Location, and NFC all enabled. Even when listening to 5 or 6 hours of music, doing maybe an hour of LTE web browsing, another hour or so on WiFi (the device is on WiFi between 12 and 18 hours per day), taking maybe 5 or 6 pictures, and some interaction with Facebook or Twitter on average every 15 mins (both standalone apps installed). Here is what I did:

  • Used the Outlook option to configure Gmail (getting around the Gmail IMAP bug that was keeping the radio busy)
  • Made sure that no email account was doing real-time ("as items arrive") sync. I have 4 accounts: 2 gmail, 1 hotmail, 1 exchange. 3 are set to pull email every hour and the fourth is set to pull every day.
  • Set my brightness on "Low" then set it for automatic mode

The second adjustment was by FAR the biggest difference maker. I haven't noticed much of a difference with Portico but I'm more than happy with the battery as is.

With heavy use today, heavy use being: Music for 4-5 hours straight, videos, facebook, games, texting and web browsing... 13 hours and still at 30%. Heavy use, battery drain is still only 5%/hr. Its insane! Yesterday my phone (L920) stayed at 100%-95% for 3 hours, and only down to 80% after 6 of light use. Microsoft really did a bang-up job on this update. Very happy.
