Dude, to change alert tones, go to settings, then hit Ringtones and Sounds. What are you talking about hacking your phone?

I believe he may be referring to making custom alert tones, such as making something that is not included with the OS a text or e-mail alert.

If that is indeed the case, then the website where MS is letting people vote on most wanted features has it fairly high on the list, which makes me think we'll see it in the next major update, maybe even before that.
