power won't shut off

For a few weeks now, I can't turn off power or put computer to sleep with normal selection of shut off.

Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds, turn it back on, and see if you can do it then. If you still can't, run some anti-virus and anti-malware software. Also you might have to reset your pc if that doesn't find anything that fixes it.

what kind of pc is it? A desktop or laptop? Can you remember what happened when this problem came up?
