Does anyone know why when I set my limit each month after I top up my data sense always shows I have way less data left?? Very annoying

So are you saying that the Data Sense monitoring and your bill doesn't match up?

It's been working great for me. Do you mean your Data Sense doesn't properly and/or automatically reset the limit every month? Are you manually topping up before the month is up or automatically topping up on the first day of every month?

I manually topped up today and then reset data sense and it is showing much less data, same thing last month, am I doing something wrong??

If you're manually topping up then for "Limit type" you need to choose "One time" and then enter the umber of MB or GB you've paid for and then save it by clicking the checkmark at the bottom. You need to do this every time you manually top up; you do not need to do this for automatic top ups. If you have done all of these steps and still are having a problem then I have no idea. Data Sense has always, without failure, reset / set / displays the correct amount of data for me.

it doesn't have an option for one time, just prepayed monthly and unlimited!

The options may be carrier dependent. If those are your only choices then the counter won't reset until the end of the cycle. I assume you can manually set the limit (MB/GB) and day of the month, so just change the limit to whatever amount you topped up with and change the day of the month to whichever day follows immediately after your top up date. By the next morning the counter should be reset to your new limit. It's a workaround that you'll have to do when/if you top up before the monthly cycle is up.
