Primary hotmail does not show up in Outlook, why?

Primary hotmail does not show up in Outlook

I have a Lumia 640LTE and just upgraded from Windows8 to Windows10. The problem is that when i opened the Outlook, i dont see any accounts active. however, under the settings->accounts area, it clearly shows my hotmail account (the account that i register the phone on). if i add my gmail account, my gmail account would show up in the Outlook. If i add another secondary hotmail account, that would show up too. However, i could never get my primary hotmail to show in outlook. i tried adding account from outlook and settings, although it says account successfully added, it still does not show. i could not delete the primary account and readd it. help please?

Wife experiencing the same problem after the Windows 10 upgrade. Her account is listed under settings ->accounts. No accounts listed in Outlook Calendar or Mail. She adds her credentials and after getting the "done" prompt, the account is not displayed. No items syncing. No messages on the live tile. Should we hard reset?

Go to existing outlook account settings-change mailbox sync settings-sync options and ensure that you have put email sync on.

The 420 update solved the problem. The changelog references "Fix for a problem that caused some phones unable to re-add a primary Microsoft account without resetting after upgrading from Windows Phone 8.1." All good now.
