Prototyope Samsung Focus Stuck on 7.0.7003.0

I was given a Samsung focus to update to WP 7.8, but it seems like it is a prototype. It has no Samsung or att logo on the front and is plastered with "Not for sale XXXX" I am still stuck on the first version of windows phone which is 7.0.7003.0, but it does not want to update to a newer version it seems. I plugged the phone into zune, and it says there are no updates available. I tried to do the update trick where I disconnect internet, and that also did not seem to work. I also tried to use seven eighter, but even then it was not go past the language screens were it was stuck just loading. I am not sure what route to take to get this phone to windows phone 7.8, but I would appreciate any and all help.

There is no cab file for 7.0.7003 to 7.0.7004. Any threads of flashing the phone to 7.0.7004?

7003/7004 are pretty much the same, just as other people had 7008. The real update is 7390, at least that build is what you should aim for as 7392 is a minor one.

I have tried to update using the manual cab updater, and have not been successful so far. I am hoping that I can get official updates to mango is I get on an official ROM.

So I have tried to flash this device back to retail rom, but I keep on getting flash locks that this device is not a retail device. Right now I am in a pickle because this is not a retail device, and it seems like I am unable to update it past this current version.

Does anyone have experience with a non retail device and trying to update it?
